Mini projects - anything that your imagination can think of that is also within the constraints of your programming language and machine capabilities. That%26#039;s why programming is so cool!

sf.net. You can get projects of all colours, shapes and sizes there.

You can use your contributions to these projects to your credit when looking for potential employers or contract assignments.

I am 37m india, want to learn web designing, PART TIME, how should i start?

Hmm, I would like to agree you do not need to go to school to learn web design but let me also say Web Design has changed since its earlier days.

Though standard html is still out there, a lot of sites want dynamic content and data/database driven pieces. Html from the link above or through doing a google/yahoo search will show you how to start with basic html.

But as you start getting deeper in web designing you will end up running into several things. There are a ton of different languages and programs you can use to create the content you want. You will probably first be introduced to CSS or cascading style sheets as they have become a standard in a lot of websites. Though there are sites with this information, I would say a good book would be best, just a handy reference to look up what you want or again google/yahoo.

Next you will probably run into javascript. I don%26#039;t think you can search for anything and not run into javascript on some level. There is a lot of things you can do with javascript, again the net is good for looking but again I would recommend a book. I myself use a variety of languages and have learned quite a few over the years and I just don%26#039;t remember them all. So a handy book for a reference is what I use.

As you start to look at javascript you will start to see that programming on some level or scripting as some call it is starting to if not has taken over a large portion of the web pages. I again site google or yahoo as the places to search. There is a lot of free scripts and sources of code out there for you to use.

But moving along, you will probably start to dive into programming languages such as php, ruby, ASP c sharp, C, perl, java and other languages. You will be able to tell by the extension of the pages.

index.php, index.asp, index.aspx, etc etc

This in my opinion has become the real meat and potatoes of websites these days. These pages allow for dynamic content that can be either data or database driven.

So you have a lot of choices ahead, I would say html is a good place to start, but if you want you can dive right into learning the more complex languages. HTML is relatively easy and can be picked up and put in whenever you need it, the other languages are a bit tougher to dive into. So its up to you.

I didn%26#039;t even begin to touch on programs like dreamweaver, frontpage, and many other applications and application suites that try to meet the needs of most people. They tend to provide a variety of easy to use tools, sample scripts and addons, along with being a visual editor (you see what you get). As you progress along in your design, you might change the application you use. So don%26#039;t be afraid to try out new apps and pieces. They can be really helpful and take quite a bit of the work off your hands.

That is just the code/scripting side of things. Graphics is another ball of wax, the look of webpage can be just as much of a pain. Creating and modifying the images and graphics on your pages can be quite a challenge but that is another speech.

I hope this is helpful and not more confusing.

I wish you luck and sorry for the long answer, web design as a profession can be rather complex.

Good Luck

Why not start by teaching yourself from online courses etc before taking (and paying for) a real class. That way you can get a head start, and a bit of a taste of whats to come.

What softwares do most people use for web designing?

adobe photoshop to design the graphics for it then they use HTML to code the website. html isn%26#039;t a program, it%26#039;s a code and you have to learn it by studying it.

What softwares do most people use for web designing?

adobe dreamweaver, xsite pro

Other Replys:Dreamweaver is very popular. A lot of people use FrontPage as well, but I don%26#039;t think its very good. Personally I use a free program called PageBreeze. It works ok, but it doesn%26#039;t handle my javascript enkoded email link very well.
